“The pacific Dinka wisely chose the cow. But others picked, and continue to seek, the mysterious, unnamable, destructive and possibly unattainable What.”
Lolo Peak on Saturday – made the north summit in 2 hours 40 minutes. After spending much of the spring sick -- including a 10-day stretch when I was the sickest I've been since being hospitalized for malaria -- it feels good to feel fine.
Up early to go at it again on Sunday.
Parked at 5800 feet and made it within a few hundred feet of the summit in 2 hours 15 minutes. Waited out snowshowers and fog on St. Mary, then made just two turns in the bowl before traversing out: ice.
One of a twin, who stopped by for a beer on Saturday:
It’s spring, so I thought I would embark on a little home improvement.
Actually, this was less “home improvement” and more “keep the porch from collapsing under a snow load”.
I got a new camera, finally. I’m blown away with what you can get for $118.
Free ice cream at DQ, which mom shared.
One of the better powder days so far this spring.
About 50 people came for our Cinco party, including Sammy.
A nice descent, finally, from the summit of Gash.
Creepy glide avalanches all over.
I feel bad saying this, because I know a bunch of the guys behind this, but I find the Omnibar inedible. At $3 for a 2-ounce bar, well, I guess people out there have more money than I do to spend on trail snacks.
Early starts for spring skiing. It’s now light from 5 a.m. until about 10:15 p.m. Get after it!
